Zhang Yin
The keywords of Zhang Yin's power are women, self-made, family business .Her power is more introversive because of herchinese background...

Zhang Yin started collecting wastepaper in 1990 in Los Angeles and shipping it to China to make the cardboard needed by growing export industries. Her company, Nine Dragons Paper Holdings, is now China's biggest packaging maker. Nine Dragons' stock has risen fourfold since its initial public offering in March last year, pushing Zhang's fortune to $4.7 billion (R34 billion).

News
"Zhang Yin said: 'Waste paper is like a forest. Paper recycles itself, generation after generation.'"
"Zhang family controls 72 percent of the company, which makes it one of the richest families in China. "
"Zhang Yin said:'My desire has always been to be the leader in an industry.'"
"Zhang does not go into detail about how she made her fortune. In a society known for close ties and hidden deals between government officials and business leaders, she says simply, 'I'm an honest businesswoman.'"
"When her employees asked for a pay raise, she would grant it if it was reasonable," he recalled. "But when her employees made mistakes, she would criticize them severely. She made it clear when to reward and when to punish."
"she came under some criticism for appointing her 25-year-old son as a nonexecutive member of the Nine Dragons board of directors. But Zhang
vigorously defends the appointment, saying her son is qualified and Nine Dragons is, after all, a family company. She has a second son in high school. And her younger brother, Zhang Chang Fei, is the company's deputy chief executive."

Carlos Slim
The keyword of Carlos' power is Monopoly...

On 8th August 2007, Fortune magazine reported that Carlos Slim had overtaken Bill Gates as the world's richest man. Carlos Slim's estimated fortune soared to US$59 billion.
Telecom leadership
Slim gained notoriety when he led a group of investors that included France Telecome and Southwesten Bell Corporation in buying Telmex and Telnor from the Mexican government in 1990 in a public tender during the presidency of Carlos Salinas. Today, ninety percent of the telephone lines in Mexico are operated by Telmex. The mobile company, Telcel, which Carlos Slim Helú also controls, operates almost eighty percent of all the country's cellphones. These operations have financed Mr. Slim's expansion abroad. Over the past five years, his wireless carrier América Móvil has bought cellphone companies across Latin America, and is now the region's dominant company, with more than 100 million subscribers.

"And while he does have a laptop, he is adamant that he does not use it, saying: "I'm a paper man, not electronic." -ramstam
"Philanthropy scepticism... In Mexico where, according to World Bank data, about 50% of people are living in poverty, many feel that he has not donated enough, especially given how ubiquitous his companies are in day-to-day life. However his supporters say that some of that criticism is unfair, not least because of his relatively recent elevation to the ranks of the mega-rich."
"Carlos Slim said: It's... my conviction that poverty is not fought with donations, charity or even public spending "
"Carlos said: Wealth is like an orchard. You have to share the fruit, not the trees "

Final Image Captures

The light shine into the space through the chapped ceiling, which resulted the cross light pattern appearing on the ground. The different materials and forms in the middle work with light effect together to structure the centralized space which represents the sense of Power and 'black hole' (which is not actually back, it is attractive, and seems like it is sucking all the space into the ceiling openning). The digged zonal roads follow the light direction and extended to the cliff. The angle of passageway fender caused the illusion, the ramp is actually horizontal.

The light travels through the column and shine upon the wall. The ‘light column’ contrast with physical column to express the idea of positive and negative, existence and inexistence.

The light digged band extended from Stephen Hawking’s working space into one of ramp alleyways. In this transition space, another passageway crossed through the space on the top right corner, without any hatches. People who want to enter into Hawking’s place have to pass through this additional transition space. The space increased the interests of spatial experience because people don’t know the ramp will lead them into where or what’s nearby.

The rotary bands lead people into Hawking’s space, they visually create the feeling of being sucked into the space.

This is the meeting space. Two entrances corresponding to each other. Once people walking out of the cave, they look back and see the giant door frame, the door represent the power, and the cascade frames provide visual sense of black hole and the suction. Walking into Florence’s place means the abandon of power and the beginning of the new journey of Asceticism (into a narrow and linear space).

The linear walkway directs people into another space, but the window and the gap stop the way and force people to turn around. This is about something visually procurable but actually unreachable.

This is a more darker and narrower space, the stairs are out of order.

An Open and brighter space with double high ceiling- the end of Asceticism

Overall, the form of Florence’s space looks like a linear space been tied into a knot. The transparency of glass is contrast to concrete’s solid texture.

Electroliquid Aggregation

Compare with universal “Black Hole”, there is one thing more unfathomable than that- the Desire of Power. Procurable or Unprocurable, Positive and Negative, Existence and Inexistence… Asceticism can command human-beings’ behaviors but not their thought. Finally, the disappear of “Desire Black Hole” is all because of physical satisfaction.

Two Quotes Again:
Florence Nightingale
“Asceticism is the trifling of an enthusiast with his power, a puerile coquetting with his selfishness or his vanity, in the absence of any sufficiently great object to employ the first or overcome the last.”
Stephen Hawking
"God not only plays dice. He also sometimes throws the dice where they cannot be seen"

Florence talks about Asceticism in her quote. What is Asceticism? It describes a life characterized by abstinence from worldly pleasures. The aim of asceticism is to achieve greater spirituality, to purify the body helps to purify the soul. Its philosophy is fairly base on the theology. But Florence explains the asceticism in another way, which outlines the social phenomenon, which base on the sociology. So that we can say: the quote has a theological appearance, but with the scientific arguments. On the other hand, Stephen Hawking plays his quote in an opposite way. He gives the sample of “God plays dice and throw into an invisible place” to describe his scientific discovery -”Black Hole”. They maybe used the different expressions, but they all used Science as their criterion.

About Quotes

Florence Nightingale
Asceticism is the trifling of an enthusiast with his power, a puerile coquetting with his selfishness or his vanity, in the absence of any sufficiently great object to employ the first or overcome the last.
禁欲主义是狂热分子漠视他的权利, 是幼稚与平庸者卖弄他的自私与空虚…
This is a thought-provoking quote, not only because the abstruseness of the sentence itself, but also it give a chance to people define the meaning of Asceticism in different ways, different opinions which much depends on the individual’s life experiences. For Nightingale, Asceticism, she has her own experience and annotation on it. She was born in an upper class family, but she abandoned the fortune, viscounty…and became a volunteer to heal the wounded and rescue the dying. She struggled in her self-definition several times in the different period when she facing to the serious choice of the life. Asceticism is struggling, confused, It is a kind of process change lifeway or ideal from one to another. Some of Architectural language could be introduced into the space, such as contrast (light, colour texture, space etc ),ambiguous space division (the spaces could read as separated or the whole, the integrated one/interlocking spaces) to give a sense of confusing feeling, a long and narrow hallway represent the different life’s journey, and narrow space – people could actually touch the texture, feel the space, meditating…etc…

Stephen Hawking
"God not only plays dice.He also sometimes throws the dice where they cannot be seen"
The statement was made when Stephen Hawing was doing his research on Black Holes...The sentence is refuting Einstein’s"God does not play dice with the universe."

Architectural Language: Positive and Negative space represent existence and inexistence, universe and black hole,” using light to define the space (Stephen believe that universe had no boundary in space-time), how to define the space, where is the boundary of the space become interesting. Stephen also indicated that “the “black hole” is not actually black”, it could lose its energy by radiation). If central space (lab) represents his worthful contribution of Black hole, the space doesn’t have to be Black...
